Jean Ayers is Vice President for Communications and Marketing ad interim, where she will oversee the university’s public relations, editorial, marketing and communications efforts for the Office of Communications and Marketing until a permanent Vice President is selected.

Jean has served in multiple roles during her eight-year tenure at Tufts.  Most recently, she was the university’s Chief Marketing Officer where she was responsible for managing the planning, development and execution of the university’s branding, marketing and advertising initiatives.

In 2010, she was hired to be the Director of Digital Communications and tasked with strengthening the university’s digital communications strategy. She later became the Executive Director of Marketing and Chief Brand Officer, where she was responsible for producing print and digital communications for the university. Jean has extensive experience in the marketing and communications industry, having also worked in the corporate sector and for Harvard Business Publishing earlier in her career.

Jean received her B.A. in English from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, graduating magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. She holds a master’s degree in marketing, communications and advertising from Emerson College.
