Lisbeth L. Tarlow, F84, FG97

Dr. Lisbeth L. Tarlow, F84, FG97, is retired as the Associate Director of the Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies at Harvard University, an interdisciplinary area studies center that supports teaching and research on that region of the world. She is currently a Center Associate.

She obtained a bachelor’s degree from Smith College in Slavic languages and literature; a master’s degree in regional studies of the Soviet Union from Harvard; and a M.A.L.D. and Ph.D. in international relations from the Fletcher School in 1984 and 1997, respectively. Her research and writing have focused on Russian domestic and foreign policy, and in particular Russian-Japanese relations. She taught Russian foreign policy at Fletcher as an adjunct professor for several years.

Dr. Tarlow is the current chair of the Fletcher School’s Board of Advisors. She also serves on the governing board of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston (formerly as chair), and the advisory boards of the Davis Center and the American Repertory Theater. Service on other non-profit boards include the Beth Israel Hospital, the Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University, and MassHumanities.
