Trecia Pessoa, J96
Trecia is Vice President & Senior Managing Counsel, Digital Solutions, Blockchain & Digital Assets & ESG Products at Mastercard, a global payments technology company. She oversees the team of attorneys responsible for global legal strategy and advice for Mastercard’s development of digital platforms to enable its consumer products, enablement of blockchain and digital assets products and partnerships, and the commercialization of Mastercard’s ESG strategy, including the company’s commitment to financial inclusion and sustainability.
In previous roles at Mastercard, Trecia was lead attorney, Americas, for Mastercard Gateway, a global omni-channel digital technology for processing payment transactions, and Senior Counsel, North America, supporting engagement with Mastercard’s merchants and non-bank customers. Prior to joining Mastercard, Trecia held roles in law departments in the financial services and hospitality industries.
Trecia is passionate about mentoring and is a board member of Bigs & Littles NYC, a non-profit organization that provides mentoring and support services to children and families in New York City. For seven years, she co-chaired Mastercard’s Her Honor Mentoring program, where she led teams of volunteer mentors and created programming for high school girls during a year-long internship at the company’s headquarters.
Trecia received her Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations and French from Tufts University in 1996 and a Juris Doctor from the George Washington University Law School in 1999. She has been actively involved in the Tufts alumni community for many years. Trecia is currently a member of the President’s Council, secretary of the Tufts Lawyers Association’s (TLA’s) national board and co-chairs TLA’s New York chapter and TLA’s Public Interest and Social Justice Committee. She is a member of TBAA and has also served as a TAN alumni interviewer for future Jumbos.
In her personal time, Trecia enjoys traveling across the country with her husband and daughters for competitive soccer tournaments, and spending time with friends. She loves to dance, travel, watch track & field events and explore the food scene in new cities.
