Theodore R. Tye, A79, A06P, A13P
Ted Tye is the Co-Founder and long-time Managing Partner of National Development, a major Boston-based real estate investment and development firm. He has been involved in developing award-winning projects for 40 years. He is a frequent speaker on real estate matters at area universities and before professional groups.
Ted is past board chair and past president of NAIOP Massachusetts, the state’s commercial real estate development association. He was a co-founder and part-owner, Maine Celtics (National Basketball Association G-League) and co-founder and chairman, Worcester Tornadoes minor league baseball team (where he built a new 3000 seat baseball park for the team’s use at College of the Holy Cross).
Ted graduated magna cum laude from Tufts with a B.A. in political science and received an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
At Tufts, Ted was a Wendell Phillips Award and Alumni Senior Award winner. Following graduation, he served for two years as Director of Student Activities where he oversaw the birth of the Tufts Daily, Tufts Student Services and Spring Fling. As an alumnus, he is chair of the Athletics Board of Advisors, chair of the Trustees Buildings and Grounds Committee, and was chair of the Trustees ad hoc Committee on Antisemitism. He has served Tufts as a board member of the Tufts Development Corporation, chair of the board of Tufts Hillel, a guest lecturer, and mentor to many Tufts students.
He was elected to the Tufts University Board of Trustees on November 2, 2019.
