Ankur A. Sahu, E91
Ankur is the Founder and Managing Partner of Kyoto Pacific Capital, an Asian investment firm with primary focus on Japan and India.
He is a retired Partner of Goldman Sachs, where most recently he was the Co-head of Private Equity for Asia Pacific from 2011-2018. Overall, he had a 20 plus year career at Goldman Sachs where he worked in San Francisco, Tokyo and Mumbai offices. He was a member of the firm’s Global Investment Committee, Global Risk Committee and Asia Pacific Management Committee.
Ankur has been involved in building and transforming many leading businesses in several industries, including Universal Studios Japan (entertainment), Sanyo Electric (industrial), Renew Power (renewable platform), Japan Renewable Energy (renewable platform), eAccess/eMobile (telecom), Antuit (AI/data Analytics) and Netscaler (communications). He is also a co-founder of a premium Japanese sake brand ‘IWA’, launched in partnership with the LVMH Group.
He serves on the Board of Trustees of Tufts University, Boston, USA, where he is Chair of the Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee. He has been a Member of the Young Presidents’ Organization since 2007, where he served in several leadership roles for the Japan and North Asia chapters. He also serves on the board of Dasra, a leading strategic philanthropy organization in India. He was also a member of the Executive Committee of Harvard Business School Alumni Council of Japan.
He earned a BS in Electrical Engineering, summa cum laude, from Tufts University and an MBA from Harvard University Graduate School of Business Administration. He is fluent in English, Hindi and Japanese and keenly learning French.
